CBGS Presents a Garden Tour of Jardins de Metis-Reford Gardens with Alexander Reford

Garden Director Alexander Reford tells the story of Jardins de Metis-Reford Gardens. This presentation includes wonderful vintage black and white photographs, taken by his grandfather, of the garden from its earliest days. The garden itself was designed by his grandmother and Alexander shares the story of Elsie Reford’s passion and determination to create her garden.  

 

CBGS Presents a Virtual visit to Jardin botanique de Montréal with Directrice Anne Charpentier

One of the city’s jewels, this garden is recognized as one of the world’s greatest botanical gardens – a collection of 22,000 plant species and cultivars, 10 exhibition greenhouses, Frédéric Back Tree Pavilion, and more than 20 thematic gardens spread out over 75 hectares.

In 2019, Anne was appointed Director.  She has since undertaken the realization of a Master Plan for the Botanical Garden, in order to propel the institution as a player for the ecological transition, in view of its hundredth anniversary in 2031.

CBGS Presents a Virtual visit to Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, Cape Town, SA

Virtual Visit to Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden with Alice Notten, Environmental Interpretation Officer who will lead us through the beauty, diversity and magnificence of Kirstenbosch. Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is acclaimed as one of the great botanic gardens of the world. Few gardens can match the sheer grandeur of the setting of Kirstenbosch, against the eastern slopes of Cape Town’s Table Mountain. Kirstenbosch grows only indigenous South African plants. The Kirstenbosch estate covers 528 hectares and supports a diverse fynbos flora and natural forest. The cultivated garden (36 hectares) displays collections of South African plants, particularly those from the winter rainfall region of the country.

Guest Speaker: Alice Notten, Environmental Interpretation Officer at Kirstenbosch. Alice is a horticulturist and a botanist, and has worked at Kirstenbosch for 30 years.

This botanical garden offers thematic gardens, including unique medicinal plants and aromatic herbs garden plus mosaicultures installations.

Director Josée Landry holds a bachelor’s degree in microbiology and a master’s degree in plant science, both from Université Laval, Québec.
