July 5 @ 10:00 am 12:00 pm

🌿 Explore Algonquin’s Horticulture Program with Canadensis – Free Tour for
Canadensis Members 🌿
📅 Saturday, July 5 | 10 a.m. – 12 Noon – You must register to attend. Details below.

Canadensis Members,

We are excited to invite you to a special behind-the-scenes tour of Algonquin College’s Horticultural Industries Program and its impressive green spaces – gardens, greenhouses, and sustainable infrastructure – all on its Ottawa campus.

This visit is part of Canadensis’ ongoing outreach and relationship-building with the local horticultural and educational community. As we move forward with plans to create Canada’s National Botanical Garden, it’s essential we connect with the future leaders of horticulture – the students, educators, and researchers shaping the field today.

Tour Details
 Date: Saturday, July 5
Meet at: Outside Building M, Algonquin College
 Time: 10 am – Noon
Parking: Visitor parking available in Lot P7 (pay-on-exit), with additional (pay as you go hourly/daily) parking in Lots C and P5, or limited paid street parking. See attached map

Look for the Canadensis flag at the meeting point!

Led by Program Coordinator, Professor Tommy Wingreen and Professor Jason Vodden, this guided tour will showcase:

The Horticulture Gardens, with ponds, plant collections, and edible gardens
The stunning five-storey Green Wall in the Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence
The cutting-edge greenhouse complex, where students practice plant propagation and learn about sustainable lighting systems

The Horticultural Industries program is a leading hands-on diploma that prepares students for careers in landscape design, nursery management, urban food production, and more. These are the very skills and disciplines that will help shape and sustain Canadensis in the years to come.

This tour is free for Canadensis members, and we welcome you to bring a guest. It’s a chance not just to explore beautiful and inspiring spaces, but to connect with a vital educational partner – one we hope to collaborate with more closely as our garden grows.

To RSVP, please email info@jardincanadensisgarden.ca with your name, email address, and phone number (and your guest’s name, email address, and phone number,  if applicable).

Together, let’s explore what’s blooming now – and what’s possible for the future.
